Sun, showers, and storms are in South Florida’s forecast for Thursday. After some early showers along the east coast and in the Keys, the day features sun and clouds in the morning, followed by sea breeze showers and a few storms in the afternoon. The Gulf coast and the interior will see the most activity. Highs on Thursday will be near 90 degrees.
Friday will see more widespread showers and a few storms, along with sun and clouds. Friday’s highs will be near 90 degrees. The holiday weekend will be a mixed bag, with a decent start and decidedly wet second half.
Saturday will feature sun, clouds, showers and storms. Saturday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.
Moisture from a tropical wave moves in on Sunday, so look for periods of showers and storms, especially in the afternoon and evening. Sunday’s highs will be in the upper 80s.
Labor Day will feature plenty of showers and storms as tropical moisture dominates what looks to be an indoor holiday. Highs on Monday will be in the upper 80s.
In the tropics, the wave emerging off the African coast appears to be well organized. The National Hurricane Center gives it a high chance of becoming a tropical depression over the weekend. This system will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the Cape Verde Islands on Friday and Saturday. Closer to home, some of the computer models hint that the tropical wave that will bring us a wet Labor Day could develop into a depression after it emerges in the Gulf of Mexico — but that remains quite uncertain.
