As the official, licensed presenter of the Discover Magic course for Greater Ft. Lauderdale, South Florida Magic School, through a partnership between Discover Magic and the Society of American Magicians(S.A.M.,) a national nonprofit organization, has been selected to provide a limited number of scholarships to enthusiastic, worthy, local kids so that they can experience the Discover Magic course at absolutely no cost. Even the props and printed materials are included.
Designed for boys and girls, 7-12 years old, the Discover Magic course is more than just tricks. It’s really a life skills course camouflaged to look like magic lessons. By LEARNING and PERFORMING magic, children develop incredibly valuable communication skills they will use throughout their lives.
With Discover Magic, kids learn how to make things appear, read people’s minds, and even make objects levitate. More importantly, they learn how to put down their electronic devices, interact with others and make new friends.
“We are honored and thrilled to be one of only a handful of Discover Magic presenters around the country chosen to be part of this pilot project, and to be able to award these scholarships, over the next several months, to kids who might not otherwise have the chance to benefit from our classes,” said Alan Kratish, the school’s Chief Wizard.
Discover Magic students go home confident and ready to share what they have learned with family and friends. Plus, each magic trick reinforces a critical life skill that goes way beyond the magic.
Scholarship applications are currently being accepted for the next Saturday morning Discover Magic sessions, beginning March 23rd, 2019, at the Coconut Creek Community Center, 1100 Lyons Rd.
To be considered, completed applications must be received by March 14th, 2019.
