If you’re a shady Russian oligarch who wants to get close to the president, or an arms dealer, or a run-of-the mill generally bad dude who has $300 extra bucks in his pocket but wants to be at the epicenter of power — just head over to a weekend dinner at Mar-a-Lago.
Because the president’s usually there, the club doesn’t keep visitor logs, and the security is lax.
Democrats in Congress are angling to get the visitor logs from Donald Trump‘s private Palm Beach club, and have just run up against the sad truth that there are no logs.
That’s right.
Trump calls Mar-a-Lago the Southern White House, but the security is much, much looser than at the proper White House, and no one is keeping track of who’s coming or going.
No one has to give middle initials, birthdates or Social Security numbers.
According to a Darren Samuelsohn story in Politico: “There are no weapon screenings or bomb-sniffing dogs checking vehicles of the sort that have long been routine at public restaurants or other places where the president or first lady is present.”
Trump’s spent five weekends at Mar-a-Lago since becoming president. One of those weekends he was photographed by diners who saw him and the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe get the news that North Korea had launched a missile.
