President Welcomes Democrats As He Shifts Blame For Health Care Failure To Freedom Caucus (Video)

It appears there’s been a shift at the White House on who’s to blame for the failed attempt at health care reform.  At first, President Trump blamed the failure on the Democrats, now it appears the blame is being directed at the Republican Freedom Caucus.

It remains to be seen how all this will affect the president’s tax reform agenda. The last tax reform was enacted in 1986 by President Reagan. We’ll see how this shakes out over the coming months:

TimeFirst, He Blamed Them. Now President Trump Wants Democrats to Support Health Care Reform

President Donald Trump’s aides opened the door to working with moderate Democrats on health care and other issues while Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer quickly offered to find common ground with Trump for repairing former President Barack Obama’s health care law.

Schumer said Sunday that Trump must be willing to drop attempts to repeal his predecessor’s signature achievement, warning that Trump was destined to “lose again” on other parts of his agenda if he remained beholden to conservative Republicans.

Fresh off a defeat on U.S. healthcare legislation, the White House warned rebellious conservative lawmakers that they should get behind President Donald Trump’s agenda or he may bypass them on future legislative fights, including tax reform.

It’s been a whirlwind first two months in office for President Donald Trump, yet the reality is he’s only managed to tackle a small amount of the pledges he laid out during his campaign. Assuming he and Congress can pass the American Health Care Act, which is the replacement plan for Obamacare, the next most logical step will be for Trump and Congress to tackle tax reform.

Trump’s three-pronged approach to tax reform

Arguably one of his most touched-on topics during his presidential campaign, tax reform is something Trump plans to tackle three ways.

PoliticoWhite House blame game intensifies as Trump agenda stalls

With President Donald Trump’s sweeping agenda hitting the rocks as he edges toward the 100-day mark, top aides, political allies and donors are embroiled in a furious round of finger-pointing over who is at fault.

The recriminations extend far beyond the implosion of the GOP’s Obamacare repeal on Friday. Senior aides are lashing each other over their inability to stem a never-ending tide of negative stories about the president. There is second-guessing of the Republican National Committee’s efforts to mobilize Trump’s electoral coalition on behalf of his legislative priorities. At the Environmental Protection Agency, a top official quit recently amid accusations the department is failing to advance the president’s campaign promises. And one of Trump’s most generous benefactors, Rebekah Mercer, has expressed frustration over the direction of the administration.
