The Board of Directors of Impact Broward has chosen Peter Kaldes to lead the non-profit as its newest President and CEO. Public announcement of the appointment was made yesterday by Andy Szkaradek, Chair of Impact Broward Board of Directors.
Kaldes, who started April 4, 2016, follows Interim CEO Diane Smith, who will continue as its long-time Chief Operating Officer.
Attorney and economic development expert to advance local non-profit’s 50-year history of meeting critical needs of Broward County through service
Kaldes comes from JPMorgan Chase’s Office of Corporate Responsibility where he managed a $20 million philanthropic program that supported strategies to increase economic opportunity in the world’s cities. Before that, he was a senior economic advisor in the Obama Administration leading efforts to grow the US economy following the Great Recession. Kaldes also worked in the United States Senate advising U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow on economic development policy. He started his career as an attorney practicing at the global firm of Weil, Gotshal, and Manges, LLP.
“We are thrilled to have Peter join our team and we look forward to Peter applying his knowledge, experience and expertise to assist Impact Broward to grow and expand in order to meet increasing critical community needs through volunteerism,” says Szkaradek.
“I am honored that the Board of Directors have entrusted me with this opportunity,” says Kaldes. “I am also eager to roll up my sleeves and get started – and humbled to be working with our dedicated partners, impressive staff and committed volunteers in advancing Impact Broward’s efforts helping our at-risk children achieve, in-need adults thrive and non-profit organizations grow in Broward.”
In addition to his policy and legal work, Kaldes was co-founder of his family’s specialty Greek food company, Kaldi. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, he graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelors of Arts in International Relations, received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh and speaks Greek and German. Kaldes and his husband are recent transplants from Washington, DC and live in Oakland Park.

I am beginning to wonder if this organization is legit. There are NO links on any of its websites to apply for help. If you email you get no response. When you call they are not in. When you try to leave a message all the voice boxes are full. When you leave a message with a receptionist they do NOT call back. Also how come there are no testimonials on the websites or verifiable pictures of these programs in action. All they want is resources and there is no way to get help from them.
