Wet Week Ahead; Watching the Tropics

wet week aheadA wet week ahead for South Florida, and we’ll be watching the tropics as a wave approaches the Lesser Antilles. After some early showers mostly in the Keys, look for afternoon storms and showers around the region on Monday. Highs will be near 90 degrees.

We’ll see showers and storms on Tuesday, and much of the afternoon storm activity will be in the western parts of the Miami-Dade and Broward metro areas, in the interior, and along the Gulf coast. Tuesday’s highs will be in the upper 80s.

Wednesday will be on the wet side again, with afternoon storms around the region and highs mostly in the upper 80s.

Thursday will bring slightly fewer storms, with the bulk of them in the interior. Thursday’s highs will be around the 90 degree mark.

Look for afternoon storms again on Friday, with much of the activity in the far western suburbs of Miami-Dade and Broward and in the interior. Friday’s highs will be around the 90 degree mark.

wet week aheadIn the tropics, we’re watching a wave entering the central Atlantic. That wave has a high chance of developing into a depression over the next five days. Since it’s forecast to be in the Caribbean by that time, we’ll keep an eye on it.
