Ah, the Rubik’s Cube. Few novelty puzzles have had as long of a career.
Since its invention in 1974, the cube has become on one of the best selling puzzles ever with more than 350 million sold worldwide. We don’t even want to guess how many human minutes of pain that has created.
So if you’ve ever been frustrated by Rubik or one of his cubes, this video is for you. Watch as this robot solves a Rubik’s Cube in just over a second.
That’s pretty bonkers and just another piece of evidence that robots will eventually take all of our jobs.
But it’s not that much faster than humans. There’s some fierce Rubik’s Cube competitors out there who have been pushing the record lower and lower.
The current record is held by Lucas Etter, who broke the 5-second barrier in November 2015. You can watch that video here. It was taken at River Hill High School, in Clarksville, Maryland.
