The area of disturbed weather in the Lesser Antilles is now Tropical Storm Matthew. At 2 pm Wednesday, Matthew was located near 13.6 North, 61.3 West, and was moving west at 20 miles per hour. Maximum sustained winds were 60 miles per hour.

Matthew is expected to strengthen into a hurricane and slow its forward speed before making a sharp north turn this weekend. The models are not in agreement as to how quickly Matthew will move at that time, but it could affect the central Bahamas as early as Tuesday. We in South Florida will need to watch Matthew very closely this weekend and be prepared to take action if necessary.
