Tommy Hilfiger, the preppy fashion designer who became really rich when his so-so clothes were co-opted by urban youth and rappers, has just listed his 14,075 square-foot Golden Beach mansion for sale.
He wants a cool $27.5 million for the place he only bought four years ago for $17.5 million.
Take one look at the place at 605 Ocean Boulevard, and it’s pretty clear why he and his wife Dee Hilfiger want to unload it.
It might be one of the ugliest things on the market today, which could explain why Hilfiger’s name isn’t listed on the deed. It’s a trust called Villa Deniz.
The very colorful seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom house was decorated by otherwise proficient Martyn Lawrence Bullard in a cacophony of colors and different design styles.
There’s the red-and-blue bedroom, reminiscent of a Tommy polo shirt. There’s the yellow polka-dot room.
There’s even scratch-and-sniff fruit wallpaper in the guest bathrooms, one with orange smells and the other is banana.
