Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort said, “Online traction from Instagram has done more than just boost Florida’s tourism, as it has turned the Sunshine State’s iconic beaches into must-visit destinations for travelers worldwide. From the sun-drenched shores of South Beach to the laid-back charm of Clearwater, Florida’s most popular beaches are sparking wanderlust like never before.

“Florida’s beaches are not just a place to relax, but a lively and immersive experience, with each stretch of coastline offering its own unique vibe, from the lively nightlife of Miami Beach to the family-friendly atmosphere of Destin. As social media continues to shape travel trends, Florida’s beaches are at the forefront, capturing the attention of beach lovers and sun-seekers alike.”

The study, conducted by Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort, analyzed over 550 beaches across Florida’s coasts, tallying the total number of posts linked to the three most popular hashtags for each beach.

Methodology: The study compiled a list of over 550 beaches in Florida, excluding locations categorized as lakes or those with overly vague names (e.g., “Dog Beach” or “Memorial Park”).

Each beach was individually searched on Instagram to gather hashtag data. For each beach, the total number of posts for the three most frequently used hashtags was collected and combined. Variations of hashtags were included, such as “#VeroBeach,” “#VeroBeachFL,” and “#VeroBeachFlorida,” depending on the terms associated with the beach’s name.

The total calculated hashtags represent the all-time number of hashtags used for each beach on Instagram.
