South Florida will see summertime heat and some afternoon storms on Saturday. The morning features some heavy passing showers in the Keys and early east coast showers on the ocean breeze. Breezy conditions will create a moderate risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches on Saturday and Sunday. Afternoon storms will develop on Saturday, but a strong east coast sea breeze will keep most of those storms well inland and over the Naples area. Saturday’s highs will be in the sweltering low 90s, but it will feel about 10 degrees hotter.
Some showers will develop overnight and continue into Sunday morning, with widespread coverage along the east coast. Breezy conditions in Miami-Dade and Broward (including the risk of rip currents at the beaches), and scattered afternoon storms, with most of the activity again well inland and over the Gulf coast (but a stray storm is possible in western portions of Miami-Dade and Broward). Sunday’s highs will be in the low 90s.
Breezy conditions will remain along the east coast on Monday, bringing in a few early showers. Monday’s highs will be in the low 90s, and afternoon storms will again be concentrated well inland and along the Gulf coast.
Tuesday will be similar, with ocean breezes and a few quick showers along the east coast and in the Keys, while the Naples area will see afternoon storms develop. Tuesday’s highs will be in the low 90s.
While the tropics are quiet, the area of disturbed weather that developed off Florida’s Big Bend last weekend continues to move westward and dump copious amounts of rain along the northern Gulf coast. It has brought flooding rains to Louisiana and parts of Mississippi, and more rain is expected on Saturday.
