Steve Went Rogue For This 2017 Nissan

The wildly popular Nissan Rogue undergoes an extensive freshening for the 2017 model year and now offers shoppers the first-ever Hybrid model.

Whereas standard Rogue AWD models are rated at 28mpg in combined driving, the new Hybrid ratchets that number up to 34mpg, and as with the gas models, the Rogue Hybrid can be specified in front-drive as well.

It utilizes Nissan’s advanced Intelligent Dual Clutch system, incorporating a compact Lithium-ion battery and electric motor to provide supplementary power through its one-motor/two-clutch system. The 2.0-liter gasoline engine is rated at 141 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque while the electric motor is rated at 40 horsepower, with net system horsepower estimated at 176 hp. The system also includes an Idle Start/Stop system and an Intelligent Regenerative Braking system.

It works through a traditional continuously variable transmission, with what Nissan says delivers “outstanding, direct acceleration feel in city driving.”  Rogue Hybrid SV and SL models feature several differences from their non-hybrid counterparts. An HEV gauge is added to the Advanced Drive Assist Display, the 2ndrow seat is a 60/40 split folding design, a storage space is added under the rear cargo area and Pure Drive HEV badging is added to the exterior.

Other additions include an HEV badge on the engine cover and the dual horn includes a Vehicle Sound Generator for driving in electric mode.
