Steve Says The Audi A4 Is Luxurious

2017 Audi A4

As the bestselling model in Audi history, this all-new 9th generation A4 shoulders much responsibility.  Compact sedans do much of the heavy lifting for luxury marquees and Audi considers the A4 representative of the best in every detail the brand has to offer.

For 2017, the A4’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine has been redeveloped to generate a class-leading 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, a new generation 7-speed dual clutch transmission replaces both the CVT and 8-speed automatic across the lineup, and its lightweight aluminum-hybrid construction has led to a nearly 70 pound weight savings despite a slight increase in overall vehicle size.

2017 AUDI A4 FIRST LOOK

A faster 0-to-60mph time of 5.7 seconds is achieved in quattro-equipped models while gas mileage increases by 3mpg, rated at 27mpg in combined driving. Audi targeted the new A4’s chassis and suspension tuning to provide a sportier driving experience and more comfortable ride for long distances.  Audi drive select is standard and includes 4 modes ranging from comfort to dynamic and can be combined with the optional adaptive damping suspension for an even greater level of ride quality customization.  A sport suspension with a lowered ride height is also available.

Taking a page from the A8’s playbook, the A4’s interior includes a finer attention to detail, low cabin noise and improved space affording more rear legroom.  On the tech front, the available Audi virtual cockpit makes viewing and navigating via the large Google Map images easier on the eyes.  Plus, it’s supported with a 4G LTE data connection.  There’s an available full-color head-up display and a plethora of driver assistance features including the optional Adaptive cruise control with stop & go and traffic jam assist, combining acceleration, braking and steering guidance, which can take the stress out of driving in congested traffic.

Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and an available 19 speaker B&O high-end audio system round out the tech goodies.

The A4 can be specified in Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige trims with either front-drive or quattro all-wheel drive, starting at around $36,000 while a fully loaded model tops $55,000.
