On Friday President Trump signed an executive order banning “the entry of any refugee who is awaiting resettlement in the U.S.,” according to The Atlantic. “It also prohibits all Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. until further notice. Additionally, it bans the citizens of seven countries—Iraq, Iran, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, and Yemen—from entering the U.S. on any visa category.”

Chaos and protests at airports around the country quickly appeared Saturday.

A Federal judge in Brooklyn Saturday, issued a stay on the immigration ban, thus allowing those with visas to remain. The immigration chaos continues.

It also barred green card holders from those countries from re-entering the United States, the Department of Homeland Security said, though the administration said exemptions could be granted.

In President Trump’s telling, the Middle East is a place where Christians run a daily gantlet of persecution, threatened at every corner by religious zealots eager to chop off their heads.

The U.S. government under previous administrations, he alleged, showed little pity.

“If you were a Muslim, you could come” to the U.S., he said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network on Friday, “but if you were a Christian, it was almost impossible.”
