Rainy, Breezy Today Through The Week

image4South Florida will be rainy, breezy on Sunday. After overnight storms and showers along the east coast, look for passing showers around the area throughout Sunday, with highs mostly in the mid 80s in Miami-Dade and Broward and in the upper 80s along the Gulf coast.

Astronomical high tides and swells from Nicole are adding up to coastal flooding in low-lying east coast locations, and the coastal flood advisory remains in effect through Tuesday morning.

rainy breezyMonday will feature showers on the breeze in Miami-Dade and Broward, while the Gulf coast has a breezy day with sun, clouds, and periods of showers. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

Tuesday will be breezy and unsettled, with passing showers around the area and highs in the mid 80s.

Look for clouds, showers, and maybe a stray storm on Wednesday, as highs reach the mid 80s.

Thursday will bring additional periods of showers, especially along the east coast, and highs will again reach the mid 80s.

rainy breezyNicole is hanging on and reached hurricane strength again on Saturday. At 5 am Sunday, it was located near 39.2 North, 47.7 West, and had maximum sustained winds of 85 miles per hour. Nicole was moving east at 6 miles per hour, and it will finally become extra-tropical in a few days. Heavy swells from the hurricane is affecting much of the north Atlantic basin.

She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
