The New Honda Accord Hybrid Gets A Once Over From Steve

2017 Honda Accord Hybrid

A significantly re-engineered 2nd-generation 2-motor hybrid powertrain headlines the return of the Honda Accord Hybrid for the 2017 model year.

Its more powerful and fuel-efficient hybrid system is smaller and lighter resulting in increased cargo capacity.  Total combined horsepower is up to 212 while fuel economy is rated at 49mpg city/47mpg highway based on the more stringent 2017 model year EPA methodology.

The powertrain transitions between EV, Hybrid and Engine Drive without the need for a conventional mechanical transmission.  A 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, an electric propulsion motor, a second motor which also acts as a generator and a lithium ion battery pack comprise the hybrid system.

The 2017 Accord Hybrid benefits from the extensive upgrades made to the Accord lineup for 2016 including dynamic new styling, sportier driving performance and the latest in advanced technology. High body rigidity is complimented by new high performance dampers and a retuned electric power steering system that delivers even more linear and precise response.

Blue-accents on the front grill, headlights and taillights along with special “Hybrid” badging, provide a subtly distinctive look and visual differentiation from its gasoline-only powered stable mates.

All 2017 Accord Hybrids come standard with Honda Sensing™, highlighted by a Collision Mitigation Braking System.  Available in three trims – Hybrid, Hybrid EX-L and Hybrid Touring – all Accord Hybrids boast increased levels of standard and available equipment.  And for EX-L and touring trims, Honda’s newest Display Audio touchscreen interface features Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility.
