Hurricane Matthew

Hurricane MatthewHurricane MatthewWhat was Tropical Storm Matthew has been upgraded to a hurricane early Thursday afternoon. At 2 pm, Matthew had maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour. The category 1 hurricane was located near 14.2 North, 67.0 West, and was moving west at 17 miles per hour. While Matthew has been battling wind shear, reconnaissance aircraft found hurricane force winds, and the central pressure has dropped as well. Because Matthew is a large system, tropical storm force winds will affect Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao, so warnings are up for those islands. We’ll continue to watch for the hurricane to make the expected northward turn this weekend.
