Late summer sun and clouds will be around South Florida on Sunday. Miami-Dade and Broward’s metro areas will see plenty of sun, some clouds, maybe a stray storm, and highs around the 90 degree mark. An afternoon storm or two could pop up in the Naples and Marco Island areas, and highs there will be in the upper 80s.
A few early showers will move in along the east coast on Monday, and some spotty afternoon storms will develop around South Florida. Monday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.
More morning showers and afternoon storms are in the forecast for Tuesday, and highs will be around the 90 degree mark.
Look for sun and clouds to start, followed by a some afternoon storms around our area on Wednesday. Highs on Wednesday will be mostly in the upper 80s.
Thursday is the first day of autumn, but don’t look for our summerlike pattern to change. We’ll see highs in the upper 80s and some scattered showers and storms on Thursday.
In the tropics, Tropical Depression Julia is showing signs of life off the Carolina coast. At 5 am Sunday, Julia was located near 31.3 North, 76.1 West, and had winds of 30 miles per hour. It was moving north-northwest at 5 miles per hour. While it developed some convection since Saturday, it is still expected to degenerate into a remnant low in a day or so.
Tropical Storm Karl is far away, but we’re watching it as it moves through the Atlantic. At 5 am Sunday, Karl was located near 17.7 North, 42.3 West, and had maximum sustained winds estimated at 40 miles per hour. It was moving west at 13 miles per hour.
Finally, the wave that’s now a few hundred miles off the African coast has a medium chance of reaching depression status.
