Many consumers and retailers have boycotted first daughter Ivanka Trump‘s clothing line since her controversial father Donald Trump took office, but Florida-based Stein Mart has been secretly selling Ivanka Trump’s wares under the label Adrienne Vittadini Studio.
So even if you boycotted Ivanka Trump, she still may be getting your money.
And that ain’t right!
The label switching was first made public earlier today in a report by the Business of Fashion.
G-III, the company that manufactures and distributes Ivanka Trump apparel, admitted to the label switching and selling the rebranded items to the Jacksonville-based Stein Mart that has 290 stores in 31 states.
“G-III accepts responsibility for resolving this issue, which occurred without the knowledge or consent of the Ivanka Trump organization,” the company said in a statement to fashion industry website.
It’s hard to imagine how this could’ve happened without someone from Ivanka Trump’s camp knowing, especially since the brand took such a hit after it was dropped from prominent retailers like Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.
It’s unclear if relabeled merchandise was also sold to retailers other than Stein Mart. It’s also unclear if the Adrienne Vittadini brand, which isn’t licensed by G-III, was in on the deception.
