In a major escalation along the Israel–Lebanon border, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out airstrikes on multiple locations in southern Lebanon on November 6, 2025, targeting military sites belonging to Hezbollah. The strikes came after Israel issued evacuation warnings to residents of villages, including Aita al‑Jabal, Al‑Tayyiba and Tayr Debba, claiming that Hezbollah was rebuilding its infrastructure in violation of a ceasefire brokered in November 2024.

According to Israeli military statements, the targets included facilities linked to Hezbollah’s “construction unit” and logistical networks near Tyre and the Nabatieh region. Meanwhile, Hezbollah affirmed Lebanon remains bound by the ceasefire but rejected negotiations with Israel, reiterating its “legitimate right to resist occupation”.

The strikes come amid growing frustration in Washington with the Lebanese government’s handling of Hezbollah’s disarmament.  U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin urged a diplomatic solution, warning that a war between Israel and Hezbollah would be catastrophic.  As tensions mount, both sides appear poised on edge, with civilians again bearing much of the uncertainty in this volatile frontier.
