Happy Hour at Cavo Lounge in Naples

Cavo Lounge (Cavo) is a restaurant in the mixed use commercial/residential development in North Naples, Mercato and has been open for almost two years. In keeping with the mixed use theme of the surrounding community, Cavo becomes a nightclub after 10 PM on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday with it’s dance floor, sound system and couches.

I had been here about six months after they opened for happy hour and was really impressed. Noticing many new items on their Menu and having a dining companion who had never been, I thought it time for a second look.
Cavo’s happy hour runs from 3:30 to 8 PM daily, with discounts ranging from 20-50% on food and beverage. A “reverse” or late nite happy hour, identical to the one from mid-afternoon to early evening, is also available from 10 PM- 2 AM.
Weather permitting, one has a choice of seating outside in the patio area surrounding the restaurant, or inside at one of Cavo’s various bars.
Tuna, shrimp and octopus ceviche

The first thing ordered was the ceviche. The ceviche from Cavo is made with tuna, shrimp and octopus. I thought it a nice touch to have the ceviche brought out on ice. The portion was very generous, and very delicious. A rocoto pepper sauce was served on the side with chips.

Roasted vegetables are “hot” on the restaurant scene now, and they are no stranger at Cavo.
The roasted cauliflower is seasoned with thyme, raisins, pine nuts, maple syrup, apple cider and sriracha then garnished with scallions. The sugars in the cauliflower florets were nicely caramelized and not overdone so there was still some al dente remaining. This dish was very flavorful and a nice transition from the ceviche to the rest of our meal.
The special blend mac sliders were next and are served on potato bread. This delicious blend of chuck and brisket was complemented by butter lettuce, tomato, maple bacon, white cheddar cheese and a “mac” sauce. The mac sauce is mayonnaise-based and modeled after what is used at an international fast food chain. In house made fries and a side of ketchup sealed the deal. Another excellent menu item.
Korean steak tacos

We finished with the Korean steak tacos which also were very good. The tacos, served on corn tortillas, came with soy-marinated steak, onions, pico de gallo, avocado, cilantro, queso fresco and a gochujang ailoi. Gochujang is that savory, sweet and spicy red paste condiment so prevalent in Korean cuisine made from red chili and fermented soy bean powder.

As with my first visit, Cavo did not disappoint. The food ordered was excellent. With no hyperbole whatsoever, the happy hour at Cavo is one of the best in the city and most highly recommended.
That’s that for another post on Forks.
