Good Sun and a Gusty Breeze, Watching the Tropics

Saturday features good sun, a few clouds, and a gusty breeze.  The East Coast metro area could see a shower in spots.  A high risk of dangerous rip currents remains at the Atlantic beaches through at least Sunday evening.  Highs on Saturday will be in the mid-80s.

Sunday will bring breezy conditions, a mix of sun and clouds, and afternoon and evening showers in the East Coast metro area.  The Gulf Coast will see mostly sunny skies, while the Keys will be cloudy with showers.  Sunday’s highs will be in the mid-80s.

Veterans Day will feature a mix of sun, clouds, a few morning storms, and afternoon showers in the East Coast metro area.  The Gulf Coast will see good sun and a few clouds.  Look for clouds and showers in the Keys.  Monday’s highs will be in the mid 80s.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny with a few East Coast showers.  Tuesday’s highs will be mostly in the mid-80s.

Faith Based Events

Wednesday’s forecast calls for plenty of sun and a few clouds.  Highs on Wednesday will be in the mid-80s.

In the tropics, we’re keeping an eye on a broad area of low pressure that’s bringing heavy rain to Hispaniola and the southeastern Bahamas.  The National Hurricane Center gives this feature a low chance of becoming a depression as it moves westward.  And Hurricane Rafael continues to move westward in the central Gulf of Mexico.  Rafael is forecast to meander over the central Gulf for the next several days, but it’s not a threat to South Florida.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
