The GLI, Says Steve, ‘Is The Enthusiast’s Jetta’

Jetta
2017 Jetta GLI

The hot rod choice in the Jetta lineup is the GLI. With the added zip from its 2.0-liter turbo-4 and fortified handling provided by its lowered sport suspension and the limited slip effect of the XDS Cross Differential System, the GLI is the enthusiast’s Jetta.

New for the 2017 model year, the Jetta GLI is available in only one high-value trim with standard 18” wheels, navigation, power driver’s seat with leatherette surfaces, LED taillights, Park Distance Control, Fender Premium Audio and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert.

Its 210 horsepower engine can be mated to the standard 6-speed manual or for $1,100 more, a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic with manual shifting and Sport mode.  Regardless of which you choose, gas mileage is rated at 27mpg combined on regular unleaded.

The GLI also incorporates a bolder look, highlighted by an aggressive front fascia that incorporates a honeycomb grille and foglights along with a rear bumper design that has a diffuser and a standard rear spoiler.

Inside, the Discover Media Unit adds navigation with voice destination entry and Car-Net Guide & Inform comprising weather reports, traffic updates, the nearest fuel station prices and sports scores on a 3-month trial subscription. Pricing starts at $28,715 including destination.
