clothesOn Saturday, February 4, for the third year in a row, Clothes Mentor Naples and Clothes Mentor Fort Myers hosted a Sidewalk Sale to raise money for The Gabriel House, a loving and compassionate home for abandoned and medically needy children.

According to Phil Baker, owner, Clothes Mentor Naples, the fundraiser was a great success and raised $6422 for the Ft. Myers based charity.

clothesBaker said the line started forming in front of his Naples store an hour before the sale started. An estimated 50 women were in line with the hopes of being able to be one of the first to find dresses, jackets, tops, pants, shoes and handbags in their size and color. Customers were able to purchase a shopping bag for $20 and fill it to the brim with designer fashions without ripping the bag.

clothesBased on the smiles seen in the women’s faces (in the photos) the quality and the variety of the merchandise was exceptional.  Women were filling their shopping bags with clothing by Chico’s, Ann Taylor, St John Knit, Escada, Susan Graver, Jones, Tory Burch, White House /Black Market, Eileen Fisher, Lilly Pulitzer and more. All of the merchandise at the sidewalk sale was donated by the stores.

Faith Based Events

“We want to thank everyone who participated for their support,” said Baker. “The money donated to the Gabriel House couldn’t have come at a better time.”

In a thank-you letter to both stores, Ed Ravish, Director, The Gabriel House, explained that the money was crucial to help make unforeseen repairs on the house. “You have no idea how much your support means to the kids and the ministry. Your recent sale was a life saver financially. We were able to cover monthly expenses, unexpected repairs to the electric system, air conditioning and septic systems. It was an expensive month.”

Clothes Mentor is a women’s resale store that features name brand clothing, handbags, jewelry and accessories. All day, every day, Clothes Mentor pays CASH on-the-spot, to purchase better brand-name “gently-used” women’s fashions and accessories.

The Gabriel House rescues children who have been abandoned, discarded and who are in need of medical treatment. The vision is to rescue, rehabilitate and help these children reach their highest level of independence and functioning. http://gabrielhouse.org/
