Background – A pair of robbers threaten to set employees on fire with what they describe as “ gas bombs” if cash was not turned over quickly and calmly. The dangerous duo has been captured by security cameras in three different cities in the last three days. Broward Sheriff’s Robbery detectives, as well as Hallandale Police detectives, are investigating.

At approximately 6 a.m. on January 10, a man and woman entered the Denny’s restaurant located at 911 E. Commercial Blvd. in Oakland Park. The cashier immediately noticed that the couple smelled of gas fumes and asked if they had been fixing cars.

The couple responded by asking the employee if they could get change for a 10 dollar bill. The man then told the cashier, “I need something you’re not going to like… I need the money out of the register.” He showed her a squirt-top water bottle filled with gasoline and a lighter. He told the cashier to hurry up or he would set her on fire. The employee complied and gave the robbers the money from the register. The two fled the restaurant on foot.

Just before 10 p.m. on the same day, the couple attempted to commit a similar robbery at a Denny’s at 1025 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. in Hallandale Beach. In this case, the unidentified man wrote a note that read, “Really sorry, empty the register as quickly and calmly as possible. We have guns and gas bombs. Quickly.” He handed the note to his female partner, and she in turn handed it to a Denny’s employee.

At 4:30 a.m. on January 12, the couple was captured by security video at a 7-Eleven in Dania Beach. The female suspect stole several items from the store and then fled.

Detectives are searching for a white male in his 20s, approximately 160 lbs. and 5’6” with a thin build. The female is described as white, in her 20s, approximately 140 lbs., 5’5” with a heavy frame and multiple scars on her face.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact BSO Robbery Detective Mark Copley at 954-321-4270 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
