South Florida will be breezy again on Friday, and tidal flooding will be an issue at the Miami-Dade and Broward coastline. Friday features clouds and a few east coast showers on the breeze, while the Gulf coast enjoys a breezy and mostly sunny day. Highs will be in the mid 80s.
Don’t go into the water, though, because a high risk of dangerous rip currents is in place at the Atlantic beaches on Friday and Saturday, and a red tide alert is in effect for the Collier County beaches through the weekend.
We’ll also see some of the highest tides of the year, enhanced by swells from Hurricane Nicole, so coastal flooding is likely along vulnerable portions of Miami-Dade and Broward, a condition that will last into early next week.
Saturday features clouds and passing showers in Miami-Dade and Broward but plenty of sun and just a few showers in Naples and Marco Island. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s on Saturday.
Look for lots of clouds and showers in Miami-Dade and Broward on Sunday, along with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Rain chances will be lower along the Gulf coast, and Sunday’s highs will be in the upper 80s here.
Monday will bring some clouds and showers, periods of sun, and highs in the mid to upper 80s.
Look for fewer showers and more sun on Tuesday, along with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
Hurricane Nicole is racing to the east-northeast after passing directly over Bermuda on Thursday. At 5 am Friday, Nicole was located near 35.4 North, 59.2 West, and was moving east-northeast at 21 miles per hour. Maximum sustained winds were 85 miles per hour. Nicole will lose its tropical characteristics over the north central Atlantic
