Are top sheets a thing in your house? A Twitter question turned into a hot debate online. Keri Lumm reports.
Millennials: love them or hate them, you can’t deny that they’re switching things up. And the latest thing the generation is being charged with killing—along with the housing market, avocados and chain restaurants—is top sheets.
The idea that top/flat sheets have gone the way of Toys“R”Us was recently proposed by Twitter user @JesseLynnHarte. “People say millennials ‘killed’ chain restaurants, marriage, & napkins… But WHEN will they acknowledge our greatest take-down yet??” she wrote. “TOP SHEETS. I don’t know a single millennial who uses one. Top sheets are archaic. This is just the truth.”
The bold assertion quickly reignited a nationwide bedding debate. Many Twitter users rushed to defend the beleaguered top sheet, praising it for its ability to regulate the temperature of the bed and for keeping their comforters clean.
