
What was Tropical Depression # 4 became Tropical Storm Debby late Saturday afternoon as it entered the Gulf of Mexico. There’s a tropical storm warning for the Gulf Coast and the Lower Keys. All of South Florida is under a flood watch until Sunday evening, and coastal flooding is also possible.
In South Florida, Sunday features windy conditions with lots of showers and storms. A flood watch is in effect for South Florida through at least Sunday evening, and there’s a high risk of dangerous rip currents at the beaches. We can’t rule out an isolated tornado, especially in western parts of our area. Highs on Sunday will be near 90 degrees in the East Coast metro area and in the upper 80s along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.

Monday will bring breezy conditions and plenty of showers and storms. Localized flooding is possible with additional heavy rain. Monday’s highs will be in the low 90s in the East Coast metro area and near 90 degrees along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.
Tuesday will feature some sun, more clouds, and periods of showers and storms that will linger into the evening. Tuesday’s highs will be mostly in the mid-90s in the East Coast metro area and near 90 degrees along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.
Wednesday will see a mix of sun, clouds, and showers in the morning. Storms will develop in the afternoon and last into the evening. Look for a brisk and gusty breeze. Wednesday’s highs will be mostly in the mid-90s in the East Coast metro area, in the low 90s along the Gulf Coast, and near 90 degrees in the Keys.
Thursday’s forecast calls for hot sun alternating with showers and storms. Highs on Thursday will be in the low 90s.
Tropical Storm Debby is strengthening in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico and is now forecast to reach hurricane strength before making landfall on the northern Florida Gulf Coast.
At 5 pm Saturday, Debby was located about 100 miles west-southwest of Key West. Maximum sustained winds were 40 miles per hour, and TD # 4 was moving northwest at 15 miles per hour.
There’s a tropical storm warning for much of the state’s Gulf Coast — from Cape Sable north to the Suwannee River and for the Keys from the Seven Mile Bridge to the Dry Tortugas. The tropical storm watch for the Keys from the Seven Mile Bridge to the Channel 5 bridge remains in effect.
A hurricane warning has been issued from the Suwannee River to the Ochlockonee River in northern Florida. There’s also a hurricane watch from the Suwannee River to Yankeetown and from the Ochlockonee River to Indian Pass. Debby is forecast to make landfall as a minimal hurricane in or near the Big Bend area on Monday.
