Tropical Storm Bertha Expected to Make Landfall Wednesday in Louisiana (Video)

AccuWeather experts forecast Bertha to track generally west toward Louisiana while remaining limited in strength due to dry air and wind shear.

“We expect this storm to make landfall sometime Wednesday evening and begin bringing some of that rainfall with it, after much of the rain has stayed offshore to the south,” said AccuWeather expert meteorologist Alan Reppert. “Dry air has limited rain development around the storm and reduced how much rain has reached land. As Bertha moves farther west and interacts with land, rainfall is expected to become more widespread.”

Due to flooding rainfall, dangerous rip currents and waterspouts, Bertha is a ‘less than 1’ on the AccuWeather RealImpact™ Scale for Hurricanes in the United States.

What AccuWeather Experts are Tracking:

Heavy rain measuring 4-8 inches has already fallen near Tampa, Fl.
AccuWeather experts forecast widespread rainfall of 2-4 along the shoreline across the northern Gulf, into southern Texas, with more widespread 1-2 inches further inland
Some localized areas will receive 4-8 inches, with an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 15 inches through Saturday.
The primary impacts are expected to be heavy rain, localized flash flooding, travel delays and road closures.
There will be an increased risk of dangerous rip currents and waterspouts along portions of the northeastern Gulf Coast.
