Watch LIVE The Statewide Public Charter Schools Summit

For the fourth consecutive year, the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools (FCPCS) will host the 2016 FCPCS Summit for District and Charter School Collaboration on Thursday, September 1,  10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Hotel, 1617 S.E. 17th St., Fort Lauderdale.

The Summit brings together representatives from Florida school districts and from charter schools around the state, as well as elected representatives from the state and local levels.  Presenters and participants will collect and share information on how school districts and charter schools can work better together.

Speaker-Designate of the Florida House of Representatives Richard Corcoran (R., Land O’Lakes) and Broward Superintendent of Schools Robert Runcie will co-chair. Adam Miller, Executive Director of the Office of Independent Education and Parental Choice of the Florida Department of Education, will also serve on the panel of presenters.

Previous Summits have focused on quality charter authorizing, support for new charter schools, the need for charter school innovation while meeting district requirement, state and federal mandates, professional development for teachers and administrators, testing requirements and more.

Faith Based Events

“School districts and charter schools have similar goals and challenges,” said FCPCS President Robert Haag.  “We both want to provide a high quality education to the students and families we serve and to ensure students are making yearly academic progress.  It makes sense to maintain an open dialog for working together.

Summit content will be available for livestream viewing at
