Top 10 Fishing Lakes in the US for 2026
1. Lake Michigan, MI
Lake Michigan is the only Great Lake that sits entirely within the US, and it consistently ranks among the best fishing lakes in the country. It takes the top spot on our list by a wide margin – well clear of every other lake. Its shoreline stretches across four states, so anglers have no shortage of ports and access points to launch from.
The lake is best known for its King Salmon. Every summer and fall, these fish draw crowds as they stage for their spawning run.
