Sun and Showers Friday

  Friday features good sun, building clouds in the afternoon, a brisk breeze, and mostly afternoon showers and storms in spots.  A high risk of dangerous rip currents is in place at the Atlantic beaches on Friday and through the weekend.  Highs on Friday will be in the upper 80s.

Some sun and clouds, showers, and a few storms on the breeze are all in the forecast for Saturday.  Saturday’s highs will be in the upper 80s.

Sunday will bring a mix of sun, clouds, and showers.  Sunday’s highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

Faith Based Events

Look for more of the same on Monday — a mix of sun, clouds, and showers.  Monday’s highs will be in the upper 80s.

Tuesday will feature a bit more sun and fewer showers.  Highs on Tuesday will be in the upper 80s.

In the tropics, we’re watching the low in the Bay of Campeche, which now has a high chance of becoming a depression on Friday.  If it does, it’s not expected to last for long.  Whether it develops or not, it is expected to merge with a cold front late Friday or early on Saturday.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
