Summer-like Temperatures And Afternoon Showers Possible

Afternoon Showers

The month of May is ending with summer-like weather on Thursday, with afternoon showers and storms along the sea breezes.  After a few early east coast showers, Thursday features a mix of sun and clouds much of the day.  The east coast metro are will see some with late morning showers in spots, the sea breezes will push afternoon showers and storms well inland.  Highs on Thursday will be in the mid to upper 80s.

Friday will kick off the month of June (and the start of hurricane season) with more of the same  — sun, clouds, some early east coast showers, and mostly inland afternoon showers and storms.  Friday’s highs will be mostly in the upper 80s.

Saturday will begin a stretch of hot days and typical rainy season rain patterns.  We’ll see good sun, clouds building the afternoon, and the chance of an afternoon storm, especially inland.  Saturday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.

Sunday will bring sun, some clouds, and the chance of an afternoon storm or shower.  Sunday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.

Faith Based Events

Look for another summer-like day on Monday, with plenty of sun, some clouds, and a few afternoon showers and storms.  Highs on Monday will be in the low 90s.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
