Storms Hanging Around, Drier Tomorrow

hangingStorms are still hanging around South Florida on Friday, but drier air is on the way. After some early coastal showers and storms, Friday features periods of sun, building clouds, and afternoon storms that linger into the early evening. Look for periods of heavy downpours with these slow-moving storms. Highs on Friday will be in the sticky low 90s.

hangingDrier air works in on Saturday, so a few early showers will give way to sun and clouds. A few storms will form along the sea breeze in the afternoon, mainly in the interior and western suburbs. Saturday’s highs will be in the low 90s.

Sunday will bring an early coastal shower or two, a mix of sun and clouds, and the chance of an afternoon storm mainly in the interior. Highs on Sunday will be in the low 90s.

Monday will feature a nice mix of sun and clouds, with some afternoon showers and a stray storm forming along the sea breeze. Monday’s highs will be in the low 90s.

Faith Based Events

The summertime pattern continues on Tuesday, with sun, clouds, and a few afternoon showers and storms in spots. Tuesday’s highs will be in the low 90s again.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
