The 4th generation of Kia’s longest-running nameplate has arrived.  The all-new 2017 Sportage resides in the ultra-competitive compact crossover utility segment and has upped its game with a stiffer structure, new suspension, advanced driver assistance systems and premium materials.  The wheelbase and overall length has been stretched leading to more space and comfort as well as substantially increased cargo capacity.

Listening to owners, Kia also mounted the side mirrors lower on the doors and have used thinner A- and C-pillars to improve outward visibility.  Noise, vibration and harshness have been reduced as has wind noise.  With a starting price of $23,885 including destination, the Sportage doesn’t skimp on tech with a wide range of available features headlined by a forward collision warning system and autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

The redesigned suspension lends to more stability, more predictable response to changing road surfaces and more precise handling.  Steering has also been targeted by repositioning the electric assist motor and giving it a faster processor for more precise response and better feel.  The Sportage LX and EX motor with a 2.4-liter, 181-horsepower 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission.  Gas mileage is rated as high as 23mpg city/30mpg highway.
