Hang AroundShowers will hang around South Florida on Monday. After a warm and mostly dry start, Monday features a mix of sun and clouds, with passing showers and storms (with less activity along the Gulf coast). A moderate risk of dangerous rip currents is in place at the beaches of Miami-Dade and Broward, with a high risk of rip currents along the Palm Beach coast. Highs on Monday will be in the mid 80s.

Monday night will be rainy along the east coast, and Tuesday will see some early showers and lows mostly in the low 70s. The day will bring clouds, some sun, showers, and storms. Some of those storms could be strong, with heavy rain, dangerous lightning, and gusty winds. Tuesday’s highs will be in the mid 80s.

We’ll finally see clearing skies and good sun on Wednesday. Wednesday’s highs will be in the mid 80s. Thursday will feature plenty of sun and just a few clouds. Thursday’s highs will be mostly in the mid 80s.

Friday’s forecast includes good sun, a few clouds, and maybe a stray shower along the east coast. Highs on Friday will be in the mid 80s.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
