
Sunday morning will be mostly sunny, but showers and storms will be back in the afternoon and linger into the evening. Expect an elevated risk of dangerous rip currents along the Palm Beach County coast. The king tides are back, so minor flooding is possible at high tides along both coasts on Sunday and the first part of the workweek. Highs on Sunday will be mostly in the low 90s — but it will feel at least 10 degrees hotter, so stay hydrated and out of the sun.
Monday will bring more clouds than sun and plenty of afternoon showers and storms that will last into the evening. Monday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.
Tuesday will feature a mix of sun, clouds, and storms in the East Coast metro area. The Gulf Coast will see a mostly sunny morning with periods of showers and storms in the afternoon and early evening. Look for clouds and showers in the Keys. Tuesday’s highs will be in the low 90s.
Wednesday, we will see sun and clouds, with periods of showers and storms on the mainland. The Keys will be on the cloudy side with passing showers. Wednesday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.
Thursday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and clouds with some showers and storms. Highs will be near 90 degrees on Thursday.
In the tropics, Gordon continues to move slowly westward in the central Atlantic, but a turn to the north is expected by the middle of the week. While Gordon was a tropical storm with 45 mile-per-hour winds at midday on Saturday, it’s forecast to weaken a bit by Sunday morning as it moves into an area of dry air and higher wind shear.
Closer to home, a non-tropical low is forming a few hundred miles off the southeast U.S. coast. This feature has a medium chance of becoming a tropical or subtropical depression in a few days as it moves northwestward near the Carolina coast.
