By Jose Lambiet, GossipExtra.com, for SouthFloridaReporter.com, Nov. 5, 2015 – RIVIERA BEACH — Riviera Beach Police Sgt. Gary Wilson has been charged with battery for his videotaped encounter with a disabled veteran in August.
During a heated argument with Iraq and Afghanistan vet Isiah James, Wilson knocked a brand new iPhone from James’ hands as he videotaped the exchange.
The incident was sparked by Wilson’s request that James move his car from a space for the handicapped in front of the CVS on Blue Heron Boulevard.
James has a legit blue handicapped sticker and three screws in a leg, and he objected to Wilson’s quip that he “didn’t look handicapped enough” to enjoy special parking spots.
Wilson didn’t hit James, but the screen of James’ phone was broken and Wilson stepped towards James and slapped the phone from his hands.
James put the footage up online, and the nasty, 15-minute argument went viral.
