Roger Stone, a Donald Trump confidant who reportedly had discussions with Russian hackers during last year’s campaign, has hired three local lawyers and asked to appear before the House Intelligence Committee.
A famed political figure who has been involved in campaign strategy and so-called “dirty tricks” since President Richard Nixon’s candidacy, Stone was the subject of questions during a committee hearing earlier this week.
Published reports indicate that Stone is part of several investigations into whether Trump associates were involved in attempts by Russians to interfere in the campaign of Hillary Clinton. The FBI and congressional committees are interested in whether Stone had knowledge about upcoming revelations by WikiLeaks during the 2016 election.
