Poker Players Join Jason Taylor In Fundraising Tournament

Poker players and former athletes will play in a tournament benefiting the Jason Taylor Foundation on Wednesday, April 13 and you can join them!

jasontaylorThe event is at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and is part of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown series.  Half of each $300 buy-in will be donated to help Taylor’s non-profit organization, which helps South Florida’s children.

The $300 includes a 5 p.m. party at the resort’s L Bar cocktail lounge, followed by the tournament. Real tournament poker is often pretty serious, but there’s nothing like a drink or two before the cards fly to loosen things up.

And while the donation portion might make the grouchy, purely-for-profit player wince, the party provides added value and the Seminole Hard Rock has kicked other incentives into the prize pool. More than $10,000 in prizes will be added to the event, including a $3,500 entry into the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship event, and a four-day Hard Rock Resort Package in Cancun, Mexico, plus $1,000 cash for travel.

Faith Based Events

A silent auction with a variety of specialty items, including a Jason Taylor Golf outing at executive golf clubs, will be held throughout the night.

“The Seminole Hard Rock has been an incredible friend to our foundation since we opened our doors, and this event is another great opportunity to join forces with them to help support the young people we serve,” Taylor said. His ping-pong tournament, JT’s Ping Pong Smash, has been held at the venue for several years.

Also, credit goes to the World Poker Tour, which has upped its game in terms of charity poker recently, through its creation of the WPT Foundation.

Meanwhile, for those who didn’t know, the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown began March 31  and continues through Sunday, April 24, and will feature two Season XIV World Poker Tour Main Tour events: the $3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship and the $10,000 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Finale. The series will finish up with the WPT Tournament of Champions.

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown satellites will be held at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood throughout the series. Visit http://shrpo.com/WinASeatShowdown to enter to win a seat in the championship. For info on the series or to register for Taylor’s event, go to SHRPO.com.
