Pairing Halloween Candy And Beer Is A Thing (Video)

Employees at Brass Tap beer bar weigh in on how to pair be er with your kid’s leftover Halloween treats. Buzz60’s Tony Spitz has the details.

Halloween is a time when youngsters indulge in eating their favorite candies. For adults, it is a time to throw parties, many of which feature beer.

The Brass Tap, a nationwide franchise specializing in local craft beers, believes these two staples of Halloween should come together and is offering suggestions of which classic Halloween candies pair best with which styles of craft beer.

The Brass Tap has left it up to individual franchises to recommend the pairings. Janique Doyle, the shift lead at the Vacaville location, said the bar has done the pairings every year since it opened in 2015. The idea is to give recommendations for candies to bring in that pair with the various beers on tap. Doyle said the pairings have been a big hit and noted that it would be a good way for parents to make use of their children’s excess Halloween candy.

Faith Based Events

“People like beer and people like sweets,” she said. “Kids can’t eat all the Halloween candy, so you’ve gotta do something with it.”

Doyle selected this year’s pairings, the process of which involved looking at the flavor profiles of both candies and beers to see how they would complement one another. For example, a particularly sweet candy might be teamed up with a less overpowering brew to tame down the sweetness.

“I paired each of these beers with different candies for specific reasons,” Doyle said.
