Online Businesses You Can Run From Your Beach House

beach house

The internet has allowed entrepreneurs to work from just about anywhere in the world. The dream of working from a beach house isn’t a far fetched dream anymore. In fact, it is likely there are hundreds, if not thousands of entrepreneurs, working out of their beach houses in Florida. If you want to live the dream and run a business while sipping mojitos on the beach, here are some real ways that real people are making a great living, living on the beach.

Content Creator

By content creator, I mean people who blog, YouTube, Instagram, etc. No matter what platform they are on, these are all content creators. Some prefer to write so they blog. Some prefer to take photos, so they Instagram. Some like to speak and produce videos, and these people post on YouTube. Some do it all.

Most content creators make money with online advertising. They may monetize using AdSense, which is the ad platform for YouTube and blogging.

Many content creators sell products as well. They’ll sell t-shirts and mugs with their branding on it. Some also are affiliates for products that they love and pitch to their audience.

The thing to remember when creating content for the internet is that you have to create a lot of it. In order to make it as a blogger, you basically have to write every day when you first start.

Even if you grow your following and you’re making a great living, you still have to post regular content in order to continue your living. There really is no such thing as passive income for content creators.

E-commerce Business

Another option for those that don’t like to write or want to be in front of a camera is to sell products directly to customers. In this scenario, you can stay completely anonymous. This is perfect for the section of the population who have little desire to be known or famous. No one cares who you are. They just want your products.

Starting an e-commerce business isn’t hard. You can go to a wholesale website like Alibaba Express and find literally millions of items you can buy cheap and sell at a markup.

There are tons of good software platforms that can make your life easier. Some of these are Big Commerce, Shopify, and Magento.

They all have different packages and levels you can subscribe to so you really need to look closely and compare. For example, the Big Commerce pricing may not include all of the features you are looking for. In fact, it may not include something that another platform like Shopify has for the same price.

But won’t I need a large warehouse to store my products and fulfill from? The answer is ‘no’.

There are services like Fulfillment by Amazon that’ll do all of that for you. So you can stay at your beach house and not worry about packing and shipping your products when your orders start to come in.

Freelancing

Maybe you don’t like to write. Maybe you don’t want to be a YouTube or Instagram celebrity. And maybe you don’t want to figure out the e-commerce business. That’s okay. Then the question is, what is it that you enjoy doing? Maybe you like graphic design. Maybe you life photography. Maybe you like sales.

Pretty much any marketable skill that exists, there is a freelancing demand for it. All businesses need graphic design. All businesses need sales. The good news for you is that many small businesses don’t want to hire and manage a full-time graphic designer. They don’t have the money, time or need to have one on staff.

Believe it or not, the same is true for salespeople. There are startups out there that don’t need a full-time salesperson to begin with. In fact, many startups can’t afford it.

The trick to freelancing is getting clients. The first place you should look to is your current or past employers for work.

They know you best and know your work. And if you did a good job for them, you’ve already built up trust-capital. You should withdraw some of that capital you built up and make some money.

There are also tons of websites that act as marketplaces for freelance work. They basically match up skills with businesses looking for projects to get done.

Live the Dream

Working from your house, or from anywhere else for that matter, has never been more accessible to so many. It’s no longer the luxury solely available to the wealthy.
