Millennials Getting Baby Names From IKEA, Wait, What? (Video)

Ikea

There is new source of inspiration for baby names that guarantees your little bundle of joy will be so unique. Susana Victoria Perez (@susana_vp) has more.

From the Billy bookcase to the Malm bedroom range, many of IKEA’s product names have become iconic and instantly recognizable – but would you name your child after them? The Swedish furniture store could well become a place for prospective parents to get some Scandinavian baby name inspiration according to BabyCentre, who have even picked out some of the best names from popular product lines.

“IKEA is known for the charming Scandinavian names it gives its products and many work surprisingly well as baby names,” a post on BabyCentre’s blog read. While some of the names are relatively traditional, such as Stefan and Tobias, others are much more unusual, with Tarva, Stig and Norna among the more distinctive monikers on the list.

Name suggestions include Sommar, the Swedish word for summer, which applies to IKEA’s seasonal range of picnic blankets, cool bags and beach towels, along with Norna, a name used by the retailer for a cushioned chair pad. Alternatively, parents could take inspiration from the Mydal bunk bed frame, Malinda cushion or Franklin bar stool when it comes to narrowing down their baby names.
