mild endHere in South Florida, winter will come to a mild end on Sunday. After morning lows in the upper 50s to low 60s, Sunday features lots of sun and a few clouds with just the chance of a stray shower during most of the day. Highs on Sunday will be mostly in the upper 70s, with a few locations reaching 80 degrees.

mild endA weak front moves through overnight, and a few showers will be around in spots. Monday is the first day of spring, and morning will be mild, with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. Then we’ll see good sun and a few clouds as slightly cooler air works its way in during the day. Highs on Monday will be in the mid 70s — cool for the start of spring.

Tuesday features a nice mix of sun and clouds, along with a slow warming trend. Highs on Tuesday will be in the upper 70s.

Look for good sun, some clouds, and maybe a stray shower on Wednesday. Wednesday’s highs will be near 80 degrees.

Thursday will be a bit warmer, with afternoon temperatures reaching the low 80s. A nice mix of sun and clouds and a stray shower in spots are also in Thursday’s forecast.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
