After seven years of playing with the Miami Marlins, slugger Giancarlo Stanton is finally planting roots in Miami.
Stanton, who currently rents a penthouse in a downtown highrise, has just signed a contract for his first real estate purchase, a rooftop penthouse at the new Aria on The Bay, an unfinished 53-floor building at 250 NE 25th St.

Buying the five-bedroom condo with a private rooftop terrace with a pool and an outdoors kitchen set Stanton back $4.5 million, according to a source in the 27-year-old power hitter’s entourage.
Stanton won’t be able to move in until early 2018, but once he does, he’ll discover a 5,000-square-foot apartment with and additional 3,000 square feet outdoors.

“We’d been looking for a while,” said Realtor Ben Moss, Stanton’s agent in the deal. “As a first time home-buyer, he had a good idea of what he wanted. He wanted a penthouse with a large rooftop pool. That sorta narrowed the choice, but since he was willing to buy pre-construction, we were able to find this at Aria.”
At one point, Moss said, Stanton has a contract on a $10 million-penthouse in Miami Beach, but Stanton extracted himself out of the deal when he found out the seller had lied about the square footage.
“The buyer claimed it was 1,000 square feet bigger than what it was,” Moss said.
