The Maserati division of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will recall 13,092 luxury vehicles with confusing gearboxes that have been cited as the source of a much bigger recall involving 1.1 million Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler sport-utility vehicles and sedans.

The new recall — filed with federal regulators June 8 and revealed Thursday — affects certain 2014 model-year Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles assembled from June 1, 2013, through Feb. 28, 2014, according to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The problem mirrors a similar issue plaguing Fiat Chrysler vehicles such as the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Star Trek Beyond star Anton Yelchin, who was killed Saturday after his SUV rolled backward down his steep driveway and pinned him against a pillar and fence.

To be sure, it’s not clear whether the gearbox issue contributed to Yelchin’s death. But the incident has cast a spotlight on the ongoing recall, which also affects 2014-15 Jeep Cherokees and 2012-14 Dodge Chargers and Chrysler 300 sedans.
