Hot Again Today With Afternoon Storms Popping Up

Afternoon stormsSouth Florida will be hot again on Wednesday, but we’ll see some changes soon with the rainy season on the way. After a sticky morning, Wednesday features a mix of hot sun and clouds, with a few afternoon storms popping up in spots, especially inland. Highs on Wednesday will be near the 90 degree mark, but it will feel a bit hotter.

 

Thursday will be a transition day, with a few early showers, followed by a mix of sun and clouds. Then we’ll see some storms develop in the afternoon. Thursday’s highs will be near 90 degrees again.

Friday will bring lots of moisture and mostly cloudy conditions. Early showers on Friday will give way to afternoon storms in spots. Friday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.

Faith Based Events

The weekend looks to be on the stormy side, starting with Saturday. We’ll see plenty of clouds, along with showers and storms. Highs on Saturday will be mostly in the upper 80s.

More of the same is on tap for Sunday — mostly cloudy skies, passing showers, and storms at times. Sunday’s highs will be in the upper 80s.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
