By Donna Thomas, SouthFloridaReporter.com Meteorologist, Dec. 29, 2015 – South Florida’s late December heat wave just won’t quit. Tuesday shapes up as yet another day when records for warmest morning lows and afternoon highs will be challenged or broken. Look for just a few showers, especially in the Keys, slowly diminishing breezes, a moderate risk of dangerous rip currents, and highs in the mid 80s.
Wednesday and Thursday will bring our record-breaking December to a heated close, with morning lows well in the 70s, highs in the mid 80s, and just the chance of a shower.
We’ll ring in 2016 with a New Year’s Eve that features temperatures in the upper 70s and maybe a stray shower. News Year’s Day will be warm, with highs mostly in the mid 80s, but a front will move in late on Friday night.
However, we won’t see real relief this weekend, because the front will stall out, leaving morning lows around 70 degrees on Saturday morning, plenty of clouds and a few showers, and afternoon highs in the upper 70s — still above normal for early January.
