From September 15 to September 30, anyone interested in being considered for Habitat for Humanity of Broward’s homeownership program may complete a pre-application questionnaire online via www.habitatbroward.org.
It’s the first time in Habitat Broward’s history that the initial step in the Family Selection Process has been offered online.
“We are continually updating our processes and investing in new technology to provide a better experience for our families,” said Nancy Robin, Habitat Broward’s CEO & Executive Director. “I want to thank everyone who helped to make this online transition a reality.”
Families are encouraged to check the organization’s website to find out how Habitat Broward’s homeownership process works and about the qualifications necessary to become a homeowner.
Applicants who meet the initial eligibility criteria will be invited to attend a Homeowner Orientation where they will be given a full application to complete. Members of the volunteer Family Selection Committee will then review the applications and supporting documentation to determine who is eligible to move to the next step, which includes a face-to-face interview and home visit.
“This year we will be selecting 15 new partner families,” added Robin. “We know the demand for decent, affordable housing in Broward County is greater than our current capacity to serve deserving families.”
Most of Habitat Broward’s builds in the coming year will be in Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach, which will involve energy-efficient homes.
About Habitat for Humanity of Broward
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Broward brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat Broward offers a “hand up” not a “hand out” to low to very low-income families who are unable to qualify for conventional financing but are willing to work hard to improve their family’s lives.
Key initiatives include empowering partner families through education, resources and support to successfully achieve their personal, academic and professional goals; teaching the youth of future homeowner families the skills and attitudes needed to make better life choices and break the intergenerational cycle of poverty; increasing awareness and educating the community regarding issues related to the affordable housing crisis and what they can do to help; pursuing green building certification for Habitat Broward homes in order to make our design more sustainable and eco-friendly; as well as revitalizing and strengthening the community by building affordable homes throughout Broward County.
