
The US immigration issue took center stage on Thursday with President Trump holding a Rose Garden news conference to outline his new immigration plan.
About the same time, Broward and Palm Beach County officials were scrambling over reports that the US plans to begin transporting hundreds of “illegal immigrants” a week to South Florida.
From a Broward County news release:
“Broward County officials have been informed that the federal government will be sending hundreds of migrants to Broward County to alleviate the highly publicized problems at the U.S. Mexico border.
Hundreds of immigrants will be arriving in Broward County on a weekly basis without designated shelters or funding to house them, feed them, and keep them safe.
“This is irresponsible policy….”
As WSVN’s Nicole Linsalata reports, county officials were caught off guard when it was learned that hundreds of migrants would be coming to Broward and Palm Beach counties:
